- FPMT is founded on the Buddhist tradition of Lama Tsongkhapa of Tibet as taught by our founders Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche.

- His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the greatest source of inspiration for the Foundation and therefore service to His Holiness is the main priority for the organization. Lama Zopa Rinpoche expressed this directly, “[I would like] for FPMT to offer service to His Holiness the Dalai Lama as much as possible and to be able to fulfill His Holiness’ wishes. This is the highest priority for the organization.”
